2 Things that WILL Keep You from Succeeding in 2011: Part 2

As I spend time with family, gathering together to honor the life of our grandmother, I realize more than ever that life is short. Grandmother Angela was in her 80′s and lived a full, rich life. The biggest problem I see with many people who wish to succeed in any area of life (health, relationships, finances, career) besides fear is procrastination. Waiting. Waiting for the right time, finances, age, circumstance, guy, deal, location, person… We wait for the “right” situation, and we waist any opportunity of succeeding.
At the end of your life you will likely think more on the situations you wish you would have taken advantage of - the ones that you procrastinated on that could have meant huge success and blessings.

I used to procrastinate in my workouts, doing things for loved ones, managing my finances, asking for a promotion or raise, and so much more. What I was really doing was waiting for the right opportunity or inspiration to make me move forward and take action, but I was waisting my life. I was letting potential opportunities pass me by because I didn’t have the guts to take action.

I finally got tired of waiting and decided that, for the rest of my life, I would boldly take action toward my dreams. I wasn’t going to wait for the right timing, finances or circumstance. I just did it.
The interesting thing about procrastination is that it’s based on fear. We’re afraid of so many things going wrong (or, in some cases, going right). Yet, if we would take action in spite of our reservations and fears, we would end up succeeding more than failing. We would find more love, abundance, passion, purpose, excitement, and inspiration.

Not all of us will be like my grandmother and live to our 80′s. Where are you living in fear and holding yourself back? Where are you procrastinating and waiting for the right moment?
Once you discover where you are holding yourself back, follow these two action steps to move forward and closer to your goals and visions.

Step 1: Write out a list of where you’re procrastinating in the different areas of you life: health, relationships, career, finances, spiritual. Be very honest and clear about what you’re NOT doing that’s keeping you from having what you want.
Step 2: Make a list of 3 things you can do that will immediately move you toward your goals.Remember, some part of taking action is painful, that’s why we procrastinate. The trick is being aware of it, making an action plan and following through regardless of how painful it may be. You will eventually see that it’s more painful to do nothing and let life pass you by.

Take these two steps this week and do what must be done to increase your chances of success. Life is short, and we must take action now to create a life of abundance that blesses everyone around us and others in this world.
