Creating Confidence in Spite of PCOS

I remember when I put on 30 pounds after I quit taking birth control pills in 2007.
I have always considered myself a healthy person, and I was shocked, even devastated when the weight kept piling on and seemed almost impossible to lose. “What is going on with my body,” I would think to myself.

My confidence levels were at an all-time low, and I felt defeated by an invisible force that was impossible to challenge. This was all before I was officially diagnosed with PCOS, and I had no clue whether the weight would ever come off. No one could explain what was happening to me, and I felt lost, misunderstood and as if I had failed. I was so miserable and didn’t know where to turn or what to do. I felt truly hopeless.

Once I discovered my weight gain and inability to easily lose weight was the result of PCOS and insulin resistance, I knew it was time to stand up and fight. Something within me (I call it “stubbornness”) refused to keep the weight and continue to feel badly about my body and myself in general. I didn’t want to wait until I had lost weight to feel good – I knew I had to feel good for the weight to come off. I was on a mission by this point. I used my desperation to fuel me on a journey that would lead to ultimate health. I didn’t know at the time that I would succeed. I didn’t know for sure if there was a way to lose weight with PCOS, or if there was hope to feel good about my body. All I knew is that I was angry and completely refused to remain in this state of worthlessness.

I rebuilt my confidence from scratch and created a deep belief in my ability to do ANYTHING by conditioning myself each and every day. I surrounded myself with people, music, books, programs and anything that would allow me to grow as a person. I wanted to be engulfed in positivity and inspiration. I started changing who I would hang out with, what I listened to and watched, the books and magazines I read and made sure I was surrounded with support and knowledge to enrich my life and make me a stronger, more confident woman.

Many women believe they need to be confident before they take action to control and overcome PCOS. They believe confidence will come with results. And I am here to tell you that results come with confidence. You will not be motivated to take action or follow through without first learning how to be confident in your ability to do so!

Have you ever tried to begin an exercise program, only to not see results in a short amount of time and decide to give up? Is it just me? What I learned after being diagnosed with PCOS is that we must first create an unstoppable force within us that is willing to risk everything to create dramatic results, or we will give up at the first sign of difficulty.
Creating this type of confidence can be done by any woman who desires to do so. And it only takes practice and the decision to do it now.

The next time you want something in your life, let’s say it’s weight loss, for example, here are some things you would do to create confidence that’s necessary to achieve the results you desire.

Get very clear on what you want. Know what you want, specifically, and create a strong desire for it. You can do this by thinking of all the things you will get when you reach your goal. For instance, if you desire to lose 50 pounds, think of the million reasons why it will make you more free, more successful and joyful.

Next, banish any limiting beliefs associated with your desire. Anything is possible in this world – you can truly create anything you want in your life IF you want it badly enough. Your brilliant mind will always come up with a clever way of achieving your goal when you only focus on your desire and NOT on the self-imposed limiting beliefs that used to hold you back (ie. I can’t lose weigh with PCOS).

Create a powerful statement that will ingrain in your mind who you want to be and what you wish to have. I call this a “Power Statement” and my clients and I create one unique to who we are and what we want (ie. our specific goals). Then, we repeat it every day, multiple times, and it eventually convinces your mind that you ARE everything you say you are. It’s called conditioning. And a conditioned mind will become more confident, capable and strong.

These tips sounds so simple, yet they’re literally how I got myself to find an alternative way to lose weight and completely balance my hormonal levels with PCOS; it’s also the same way I was able to write a book, create my own business, and connect myself with Insulite Laboratories. It’s the same way the women I work with make more money, get pregnant with PCOS, lose weight, create more happiness, find a job they’re passionate about, and have that confidence that makes them feel unstoppable. You can have this, too, but you must first decide you deserve it, then follow the above suggestions and repeat them daily.

Confidence is the starting point for having anything you want in your life, and the best part is that it shapes you as a woman and makes you someone you’re proud to be. I hope you’ll follow these recommendations, and I look forward to hearing how they help you create the health and life you want.
