What Limiting Beliefs Do You Have About PCOS?

Are you getting in your own way of succeeding in your PCOS health? That’s the case for many of us, and it certainly was for me. Before I was even diagnosed with PCOS, the doctors thought I was “pre-menopausal”…at 25! They convinced me (and I convinced myself) that it was “impossible” to do anything about PCOS. The hot flashes and night sweats were something I would have to live with. Many women are convinced that their physical symptoms such as hair growth, acne, weight gain and hair loss are permanent and any attempt to do something about is hopeless.
Do you see how these “limiting beliefs” stop us dead in our tracks, before we’re ever able to try something that might work?Of course, I’m not assuming you haven’t done anything about PCOS. In fact, I’ll bet you’ve tried many things to no avail. I tried many different things after refusing to take medication like birth control and Metformin. I would exercise, eat right, try this and that. But I wasn’t getting anywhere! The limiting beliefs I had were that it’s not possible,it’s too difficult, and I’m not capable of having a normal body or healthy life
Do you know what I tell myself now, when I think those thoughts? Garbage! That is total, utter garbage! I say, “Katie, have you tried EVERYTHING? Have you been patient, persistent and positively expecting good things to happen?” If the answer is no, I give myself (and sometimes my clients when they say things like this) a big kick in the rear to get back on track. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. ANYTHING. But if you give up and go home because it’s not happening when you want it to and the way you want it to, then you are in for major disappointments in life. Some things take longer to get results, and you can be certain that attempting to overcome PCOS will test your strength and resolve.
You’re either in it to succeed or you’re not. It’s as simple as that.I know that MOST women are strong, brave and resilient – I know you probably are one of these women. So if you’re in it to succeed, you don’t stop trying EVER until you get what you are after. You want better health? Try anything and everything until it happens. If something doesn’t work, try something else. If that doesn’t work, try something else. Got it?
Let’s do a little exercise together. Write down your top 3 limiting beliefs with PCOS. What do you really believe about your health? Get very clear because this will be a huge indicator of why you’re either struggling or succeeding.
Now I want you to challenge those beliefs and call them what they really are…a “story” that is keeping you from taking action and having what you want. See these “reasons” as blocks that are holding you back and realize that none of it is true. It’s your subconscious mind’s protective way of keeping you from being in pain through disappointment and frustration.
Next week, I will share with you how to overcome limiting beliefs and hold your life to a higher standard. You want certain things for your health, and you deserve them. But it’s not going to just “happen”…you have to make things happen. You must take action, and I’ll show you how.
